“Your work made me re-think my own practice!”
Exhibition thoughts and visitors books…
My experience of two recent exhibitions has been very positive, and having a Visitor’s Book helped a number of people to leave lovely comments along with their email addresses so I can keep in touch. The quote in this heading is taken from one of my appreciative visitors! It’s so good to know that my work made an impact.
At one show, when I was stewarding on one of the days, it was particularly interesting to watch visitors as they strolled around the exhibits and it was gratifying to see the numbers that stopped and took a good look at my work. They really looked and picked up my sketchbooks etc.
At the other event I had a ‘stand’ and was there all day. This had its advantages as I was able to talk about the work but perhaps it put off some people from looking closely? However, I had my head down to make some brushes whilst I was there so I don’t think I was an intimidating presence! I did not ‘pounce’ on them!
People were interested in the brushes, so they purchased these as well as the cards and browser items.
A good experience all round for me!
I’d love to know your thoughts as a visitor to exhibitions. Do you like to talk to the Artist?
